Ladan Momayez, Ph.D.

Dr. Ladan Momayez is an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering in the Division of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, USA. She earned her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Ecole Polytechnique de l’Université de Nantes, France, in 2004. Her experience includes roles as a researcher at the Royal Military College of Canada, supported by the DND from 2011 to 2020, and as a NASA Postdoctoral Program Advisor from 2019 to 2021. Additionally, she has contributed to the academic community at Université de Caen-Basse Normandie in France from 2008 to 2010. Her career also includes a stint with the Canadian Armed Forces from 2021 to 2022.  

 She is actively involved in several professional activities, such as serving on the boards of "Recent Patents on Mechanical Engineering" and "Advances in Fluid Mechanics." Furthermore, she reviews papers for seven international journals, including the Journal of Wind Engineering & Industrial Aerodynamics, the Journal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, the Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, the Journal of Automobile Engineering, the International Journal of Fluid Mechanics Research, and the Journal of SciTech no. These roles reflect her commitment to advancing knowledge in her field and contributing to the broader scientific community. She is a member of Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO). 

She has over 26 years of experience in laboratory testing and simulation techniques. Her expertise includes problem formulation, the development of experimental techniques, interactive visualization, and setup validation. She has a strong background in wind tunnel testing characterization, visualization, Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV), hotwire anemometry, turbulence measurements, and hardware/software integration. 

With research and teaching experience in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, dynamics, dynamics system and composite materials, she possesses significant expertise in data acquisition and signal processing, including data reduction, frequency analysis, statistical analysis of random data, and sensor calibration. Her research has explored heat transfer enhancement by organized vortex flows, boundary-layer flows, forced convection, and non-gravitational convection. 

 She has developed, improved, and taught more than fifteen courses.
