Dr. Sheldon Clare, Professor Emeritus of Chemistry at Pitt-Johnstown

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Dr. Sheldon Clare,  Professor Emeritus of Chemistry.  Dr. Clare joined Pitt-Johnstown as an assistant professor in 1972 and was a distinguished faculty member until his retirement in 2000.  Dr. Clare was also an active and engaged member of the Johnstown Symphony Chorus and Johnstown Symphony Orchestra Financial Campaign Committee.

Highly committed to UPJ  throughout the decades, Dr. Clare and his wife established the Dr. Sheldon I. and Beth Rapoport Clare Scholarship at UPJ, presented annually to an eligible exceptional graduating senior who intends to teach high school chemistry.

"On behalf of UPJ, I wish to express our profound gratitude and appreciation for Dr. Clare's excellent contributions over several decades, not just through his teaching and scholarship but also through his engagement and service on campus and in the community. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones," stated UPJ  President Jem Spectar.
