History Club
History Club is a student-led club at UPJ made up of students who are studying History as their major, students who are interested in learning about history as a hobby, or anything in between. We at History Club pride ourselves on being a fun, casual group where students who share a common interest can come together and enjoy something they are passionate about. Our meetings include events such as board game nights, movie nights, and trivia. We also organize group trips which highlight local history around the area which often include historic tours in the afternoons or evenings. The club also has a long tradition of annual weekend trips; last semester, we visited Niagara Falls, New York and went to a number of historic sites in that area. We are also associated with our school's Phi Alpha Theta History Honors Society, which inducts new members each spring to recognize their academic excellence. History Club is open to all UPJ students and meets biweekly on Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m. in Krebs 117. If you are interested in joining, we encourage you to contact our president at mam833@pitt.edu to receive information about our events via email and to follow our Instagram page at instagram.com/upj_historyclub/.
History Club Advisor is Dr. Mark Conlon.

History Club and Phi Alpha Theta Officers
Hi, I am Mariam Moaz. I am from Johnstown, Pa and a senior with the double major of Political Science and History. I will be applying to graduate school in International Relations to one day become a diplomat. Currently, I am the club’s president. I collaborate with the club officers often to plan fun meetings for our members. It has been exciting to see the number of people who join us for our meeting sessions! In my free time, I enjoy playing video games on my Xbox and chill out with my cat Zelda.
I am History Club's Vice President, Anastasia Smith. I am a double major in political science and history with a minor in justice administration and criminology and certificates and international relations and US constitutionalism and democracy. I enjoy learning about the US Revolutionary War and Japanese history.
I am Matt Hoover, History Club's Secretary, and a senior studying History and Political Science (also a minor in Philosophy). I am from Northern Cambria, PA and in the future, I hope to study History at the graduate school level. In addition to my duties at History Club, I am also the Vice President of Student Government and an officer of Catholic Campus Ministry. My other hobbies include reading and traveling.
I am Gabriel R. Rosario, the treasurer of History Club. I am from Pittsburgh, PA, majoring in Criminal Justice and plan on being an officer in the police force. My favorite part about history club is coming to club meetings where we have fun and laugh together.
