President’s Staff Award for Excellence in Service to the Community acknowledges staff members whose work has gone beyond the boundaries of Pitt-Johnstown and made an extensive impression in the community.
Purpose
This award recognizes the service given by an individual to his/her community beyond the boundaries of the University of Pittsburgh Johnstown campus. Volunteer participation in community endeavors is important for civic progress. As a community partner, Pitt-Johnstown places a high value on community volunteerism by its staff. While it is virtually impossible to assign a dollar value to the contributions that individuals make, it is that self-investment that is recognized by this award.
Number of Awards
Generally, no more than one award within this category will be made within a calendar year. Exceptions may be made in extraordinary circumstances. There may be years when no award is made within this category. The award will be announced at the annual staff luncheon held each year in December. The winner will receive a $500 award.

The candidates for this award must have an employment record with Pitt-Johnstown for a minimum of five (5) years and be in good standing at the University, with no adverse employment actions within the last 12 months.
